Meg founded the Stories Project and the Week of Action in 2012 after her own brush with anti-gay violence altered the course of her life and the direction of her activism. In a position where she felt unable to talk openly about what happened to her, she began to wonder if there were other victims and loved ones out there with the same story – if perhaps the human stories were largely absent from mainstream discussions of anti-LGBT violence not because no one wanted to speak out, but because they didn’t have a place to. Though she considers herself fortunate to live in what she describes as a liberal bubble of acceptance today, she hasn’t forgotten where she came from and is dedicated to the creation of a better and safer world for all LGBT people. She serves as co-director of the project alongside Alice and is responsible for the blog and the story collection process.
