Taliyah joined the team in 2016 and currently serves as the Stories Project’s social media coordinator. She is responsible for overseeing all social media accounts and ensuring a steady flow of content and conversation. A dedicated activist who has found her place in the Black Lives Matter movement and the Say Her Name campaign, she believes all forms of state violence are connected and the only way to eliminate the violence is to eliminate the state which produces it. The murder of her girlfriend Stacie in 2008 and the suicide of her close friend Kisha in 2011 brought the urgency of the situation for black trans women in the United States to her attention and has guided the focus of her activism ever since. She lives with her five-year-old daughter Amalia and a few too many small animals in a bustling metropolitan city on the east coast and is pursuing a degree in social work.
